***************************************************** The following is a trail report for 2/16/07 After the storm finally ended we had 18 to 20 inches of snow on the ground. It's great news for the trail system here as every trail has plenty of snow coverage. The amount of snow we received means that all trails must be "broken" by Skandic before conventional snowmobiles are able to ride them. Ed B. and I got a chance to ride quite a few of them yesterday and should complete the task today. Here is a list of trails we got to yesterday and their current condition: The lake is drifted and tough to ride so use caution. North trail, Wheaton Trail, South Trail, Happy T Trail, Watts Trail, Camp 7, Quick Lunch, Buzzel Valley Trail, Brown Brook Trail, Three Ponds, and Annie's Loop were all ridden and are in very good condition. Annie's loop is tough riding with windblown snow and side hill riding. Brown Brook has two very narrow passes as you approach the top intersecting with Buzzel Valley. There is a huge snow bank at the end of the lake as you try to get to the Happy T. (will try to remove this today.) If anyone has any questions or comments on the trails they ride this week-end please email me at drewnutting@hotmail.com Thanks, Drew/Trail Master **************************************************** Trail report for 2/14/07 As of 3pm today a foot of snow has fallen. Expect trail conditions to be excellent by this week-end. Hope to see everyone up here. Will update tomorrow. Drew/Trail Master **************************************************** The following is a trail report for 2/12/07. The following trails are open and in good condition; Mead Swamp Trail, Camp Seven Trail, Three Ponds Trail, West Branch Trail, Lenny's Loop. The following Trails are open and in fair condition; North Trail, South Trail, Wheaton's Trail, Stinson Mtn. Trail, Quick Lunch Trail. The following trails are open and in poor condition; Annie's Loop, Brown Brook, Buzzel Valley Trail (upper portion) Donkey Hill Cutoff. By poor it means they've been ridden by skandic and trees removed but are very rocky and are in very rough condition. Eagle Cliff has not been checked. If anyone has any further information on these trails please email me at drewnutting@hotmail.com. Remember the snow cover is still light, if we get any more snow before the weekend, I’ll update the report before the week-end. Use Caution while riding and don't ride alone. Thanks, Drew/Trail Master ********************************************************** The following is a trail report for 2/5/07 Went for a ride to the Sunset Grill on Sunday with a group of nine and experienced the following conditions; Buzzel Valley Road was good to very good till the right cut-off to the Campton cutoff. From that point it was fair with some rocks and bear spots. Going over Rt. 3 to the field was kind of bare till you got about 300 yards in. The rest of the trail through the field and the camp ground was good. We rode back through the "T" and it was good to fair to that point. There were a few rough spots and rocks showing but overall not too bad if you went carefully. Lenny's loop was good to the turn around but there are ongoing logging operations and care should be taken through that area. Camp Seven trail was good and as before logging continues at the lower section. Mead Swamp to Doe Town Rd was very good. The South Trail and Wheaton trail are passable but have some exposed rocks and care should be used. The North trail and Happy T trail are passable but as with others with limited snow cover care should be taken. Three Ponds Trail is open and lightly groomed, there are some good spots and a few rough patches but it is passable to the main pond. Riders have reported that Quick Lunch is rough. Annies Loop, Buzzel Valley Trail, and Eagle Cliff have not been opened yet but they will be checked during the week and I'll have a report on these by the week-end. Riders have reported that they have been to the top of Stinson Mtn but there are some rough areas and some ice so use caution if you attempt this. If anyone has ridden in any areas that I have not reported on please feel free to email me at drewnutting@hotmail.com
Thanks, Drew/Trail Master ***************************************************
The following is a trail report for 1/29/07. On Saturday 1/27/07 members Ed Healy, Sid Ferrel, George McQuillan, Ed Beaulieu, Keith Ingham, and Drew Nutting moved lumber up the Brown Brook trail for a bridge building project in the spring. We'll keep you updated for the building date. I did a little riding this week-end and can report on the following trails: Stinson Mtn. has many rocks showing and hard ice under a light snow cover. The North trail and Wheaton trail are ride able with thin cover. The Trail to Mead swamp and Camp Seven trails are good but, be aware that logging operations are continuing in that area and caution should be used when riding in the area. From the Lenny Loop cutoff to Stinson Lake Road is used for log truck travel and is like riding on a sanded road. Happy T trail and North Trail are thin cover with some open water bars. Three ponds trail to the pond was fair. Annie's Loop, Eagle Cliff, Quick Lunch, Buzzel Valley Trail, and Brown Brook trail have not been ridden and at this time should be considered closed. Thanks, Drew Nutting/Trail Master
The following is a trail report for 1/22/07 The lake is safe for riding. There is some snow along the edges and the center of the lake has some wind blown bare areas. Some of the Government Road trails (Camp Seven, etc.) are able to be ridden but have limited snow cover. Most of the trails still do not have enough snow to be able to negotiate the rocky terrain. If you choose to ride go slowly and watch for obstructions, (rocks, branches, logs, etc.) as with limited snow coverage these are more prevalent. There is currently between 6 and 12 inches of snow on the ground depending on what area you are in. As snow is supposed to fall through the week I'll try to update this report on Friday if the is any better news.
